Located 15 Minutes South of Adelaide, the Avoca hotel is an upscale pub, or restaurant depending on which part you enter, coupled with a spacious room that provides you with a nice setting. However from our experience, that was the only positive part of the night. Walking in, three of us have trouble finding the restaurant area and ventured through the pub before meeting up. Some more obvious signs would be recommended so that we don’t get lost like last time.

The price for the schnitty at the Avoca Hotel is $22, the average price for schnitty’s that we have come across so far. The schnitty is served with fresh garden salad, the choice fo your own gravy which is served in a cup and also a handful of chips which was lacking in our opinion. The schnitty itself was rather mixed either being of average size or smaller.

The schnitty itself was disappointing all round, this was due to the long wait time, half of the schnitty being burnt and tough and quite stringy for one of us. The schnitty was not treated with respect and was quite wasted. Furthermore, the lack of gravy was not of a decent quality with the gravy being too runny and lost some flavour due to it. The chips were also nothing special either, but rather dry and nothing unique or fresh like the other places we have been too.

The biggest issue of the night was the atmosphere and the service. The atmosphere was noisy and crowded rather than the spacious area we were expecting. Having a conversation was quite difficult, it was like a busy cafe on a saturday morning.

The service from the waitress was simply bad. While waiting to be served two of us overheard her giving another patron the wrong food and then acted quite rude and said that the patron was wrong. We were not looking forward to her serving us. 5 minutes later, she provided us with the cutlery which half of it was missing. She then proceeded to say that only three of us ordered the schnitty’s when there were four of us. However, the ladies serving at the bar were lovely, just the waitress was questionable at best

Overall, we not recommend and would not come back, maybe it was a bad night, but it was bad enough to deter us from future visits.
