The Torrens Arms Hotel
93 Belair Rd, Kingswood SA 5062
Located 9 minutes South of Adelaide, The Torrens Arms(TA) hotel is a one of the more traditional pubs that we have attended. However, the TA surprisingly has a mix of old school pub vibes with a combination of younger kids that gives the TA and amazing atmosphere if you are looking for a schnitty with a down-to-earth vibe. Walking in, it was quite crowded due to a special deal on steaks and somebody tried to take our table but it didn’t stop us conquering their schnitty
The price for the schnitty is $22, 3 in a row for the price of schnittys. The Schnitty was served with fresh garden salad, thick gravy, crunchy and golden chips and a first of its kind, a dinner roll which took us to some surprise. Finally, the schnitty was the biggest we have seen yet, so big that the schnitty was hanging out both sides of the plate. We had a big one in store!
The size of the schnitty really took us by surprise, but to top it off, it was cooked to perfection. However, the schnitty had a different taste compared to other schnitty’s we tasted. It had a more herby, smoky flavour that hit your mouth. It was mixed feelings between us, two of us loved the flavour, while the other was adamant at first but started to enjoy it as he dug deeper. The chips were on point with a solid amount of crunch, not sogginess at all. The gravy was lacking due to the size of the monster schnitty, but it wasn’t a big enough issue for us to complain about.
The Torrens Arm hotel upper hand is either the value for money for their schnitty or for their atmosphere. The combination of the two provides an comfortable feeling that gives you country-town and inner city vibes mixed into a neat little package. We can see ourselves going back some time soon.
Overall, if you are not looking for a formal setting and a solid feed after work then the Torrens Arms is the place to go!
